1408

Watched this last night, it resulted in the most disturbing nightmares of my life. The film is based on a Stephen King short story, I sometimes forget just how sick and twisted he can be. I would recommend this to anyone who likes horror films or psychological thrillers, King knows how to build suspension like no one else....

AER - OBAMA

My favourite song (Aerodynamic) remixed by my favourite all time DJ celebrating Obama's inaugeration - AWESOME!

LOVE THIS AD!!!

During my winter hibernation I was sent the below viral and I'd like to take my hat off to the creative agency - it's an example of how modern ads should be made;

- men and women from teens upwards will understand the message
- it's amusing
- it can be used online, TV as well as mobiles etc.

It would work well as a pre-roll and obviously it has worked perfectly as a viral and the youtube video is currently counting over 1,000,000 views!

The Truly Social Mobile

I've been away, visting bonnie Scotland, with no broadband internet access; just me, my mobile and many mountains. I have a Skypephone S2 which serves it's purpose, it was the cheapest HSDPA enabled replacement for the N95 I lost in May. So basically while I was away I used the Facebook app, a lot. It's free, I could keep in touch with those who I didn't need/want to phone/text etc and I could also access news sites through my HSDPA, so no need to walk to the shops in the freezing cold, all good!

The Skypephone S2 also comes loaded with the Skype application (it's all in the name you see), giving me free calls to anyone with a Skype account. This is pretty irrelevant to me as I don't use Skype, although I do have my sister as a test contact. One feature I discovered during this test is that you can link your Skype contacts to your normal phonebook. So, your phonebook shows you if they are logged into Skype meaning you can easily choose to call someone via Skype rather than pay to call abroad (if that contact is abroad). Pretty nifty huh?

So imagine how amazed I was when Three came in to our mobile event and showed us the INQ phone, I wasn't allowed to blog about it as it hadn't gone to market but now it has and I have to say it sounds bloody brilliant! The INQ phonebook is linked into Facebook and Skype in the same way as only Skype is on the Skypephone, your messages interface doesn't just show you your recent text messages, it also shows you your Facebook messages or any Skype chat that you may have received. They are calling it a social mobile and I have to agree with them, I just worry that the bad press 3 receive regarding signal (a totally archaic point of view, I always have signal) will prevent the phone truly reaching the masses....

Twittering with the Blogeratti

So, Mediawitch attended a Blogger's Meetup in a rather pointlessly expensive wine bar in the city (normally being much more accustomed to free booze). The atmosphere was how I imagine a techy singles night would be; everybody was looking a tad shifty, checking eachother out, catching eyes because they want to talk to you and see what they can get out of you!! ;)

At the meeting I wish I'd asked the speaker whether she thought the famous British reserve will hold blogging back. I for one am embarrassed that I've started a blog and I know others who also feel slightly uncomfortable about theirs, it feels rather self indulgent. One friend said he knew his friends would rinse him if they knew what he was up to!

Speaking of self indulgence, Twitter was mentioned in the speech and in various conversation. I have to admit, I didn't know what it was until yesterday but I have to agree with Social Whisper on this one; does anyone really want to know what I'm doing/thinking/feeling etc? I've joined Twitter to find out what this idle banter is all about, currently following a youtube star and Stephen Fry amongst others. I'll report back on whether I've converted shortly....
